How to apply for teacher training

The DfE Apply for teacher training service handles the applications for teacher training programmes in schools and universities in England. You can apply to up to three training providers and it is recommended that you apply early to avoid missing out on a place.

Note: Applications for Teach First and Premier Pathways should be made via their websites.

Writing personal statements for teacher training

When you apply, you will need to write a personal statement detailing your experience, interest and motivations for becoming a teacher. You will also need to explain why you have chosen to teach the age range you have chosen.

Preparing for interviews

International and EU students

If you are from the EU or an international student, you can train to teach in England. The Get Into Teaching website has information on visas, degree equivalencies and support
