In order to become a qualified librarian or archivist, additional training is required. There are accredited master's (and postgraduate diploma) courses in library & information studies and archives/records management. Some qualifications are jointly accredited by CILIP and the Archives & Records Association.
For most courses you will need to have had relevant experience in a library or archive first.
