Allied Health, Medical Associates and Nursing

Getting relevant experience is very useful for careers in allied health professions, medical associates or nursing. Experience, or at least observation/shadowing, can be part of the application process for courses. Volunteering is a great way to do this while you are at Sussex, or you can contact local NHS hospitals for work experience opportunities.

Hospices and care homes

There are lots of care homes in Brighton/Hove, and most are keen to take on volunteers – good idea to check their CQC rating online first.

Also, it's worth asking whether they have visits from health care practitioners to ensure that you meet a wider range of the health team
