Most graduates who work in this sector will have gained relevant work experience on a summer internship or placement year and then go on to receive further training via a graduate scheme. Others may move into the role after gaining graduate work experience in a specific industry sector, or at a business or professional services firm.
Case study interviews are common in management consultancy. You will be presented with a business problem and asked to talk about what you would do to resolve it. This gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your problem-solving skills and gives the interviewer an insight into your thinking and the types of questions that you ask.
