Business and Management Functions

How to develop your experience

Getting into business and management roles can be competitive but being able to demonstrate that you have relevant work experience will be a great advantage. Many large employers offer work experience opportunities such as insight days, summer internships and placement years.

You can begin building your skills and experience at university by volunteering, doing an internship, having a part-time job or by doing a professional placement.

Insight days

Insight days are generally aimed at students in their first year of study. They offer the chance to get an insight into a particular sector or company. Applications generally open in the autumn or winter before the Easter break

Summer internships

Placements

Many organisations offer business placements, including those in operations, analysis and commercial.
